Tiyanjane is a CAVA2 Malawi supported cooperative that has received a number of capacity building including good agricultural production, HQCF processing, quality management, marketing and product development/utilization. The major challenge the group faced for a long time was lack of clean water to use when processing cassava. CAVA facilitated linkage of the group to GIZ Malawi as one of development partners for complementary support to communities. In addition, GIZ assisted the group with cassava planting materials of improved varieties and training in FO cycle and farm business school concept. The group used to spend about US$4 for water from a distant borehole each day they processed. Today, Tiyanjane bakery, are proud owners of a freshly installed borehole within their premises courtesy of GIZ Malawi. This support will improve profitability of HQCF processing, will enable them have clean water for their homestead use and livestock facilitate preservation of cassava planting harvested during dry season.
