Alacho Francis Ouruma is the Country Manager of Cassava: Adding Value for Africa, Uganda, under the Africa Innovations Institute, since 2010. He has worked as a Senior Research Officer in the National Agricultural Research Organisation and NAADS Coordinator having earlier on been an Agricultural Production and Post-Harvest Handling Manager with Africare
He has wide research experience in the root and tuber crops majoring in the potato and cassava coupled with Agri-business skills and management as well as value chain experience in High Quality Cassava Flour, groundnuts, cassava seed, local chicken, fish, potato seed, ware potato and honey. Additionally, he has experience working with the private sector such as Pentagon Ltd, Tonnet Engineering, SAIMMUCO, Uganda Inputs Dealers Association, microfinance institutions, Butenga Farmers Association, Busitema University and Mahono Mahalabani, and with South Eastern Private Sector Promotion. He has had extensive collaborative, Networking and partnership experiences with national, continental and global scientific and development institutions and organisations like the International Potato Centre (CIP), CIAT, ICRAF, CTA, FARA, ASARECA, USAID, Africare/Washington, African Highlands Initiative (AHI), East and Central African Potato & Sweetpotato Association (PRAPACE), Sasakawa Global 2000 and Africa 2000 Network.
